The Porsche 911 RSR chassis #9901 was entered by Porsche North America for the 2015 IMSA United SportsCar Championship.
The car entered only eight races but was very succesful. #9901 secured 4 wins  during the 2015 season (Bowmanville, Road America, Virginia, Petit Le Mans) and all championship titles in the GTLM class of the United SportsChampionship (Drivers, Team and Manufacturers).

The major win of chassis #9901 was recordred on the Road Atlanta circuit, doing so Porsche has scored its first ever outright victory at the long distance Petit Le Mans classic.
Having to deal with torrential rain at times, Patrick Pilet (France), Nick Tandy (Great Britain) and Richard Lietz (Austria) beat all of the more powerful and lighter sports prototypes in their Porsche 911 RSR. It was the first time a near-production GT vehicle had claimed overall victory in the most important sports car series on the North American continent.

After the 2015 season, #9901 was retired from racing duties. The car was bought from Porsche and stayed stored in the USA.

#9901 was back out on a racetrack and roared again at Porsche Reunion VI at Laguna Seca on 27th–30th of September 2018, participating in the celebrations on Porsche 70's anniversary with Patrick Pilet at the wheel.
