The Porsche RS Spyder #708 is one of the three cars that were sold to European customer teams at the end of 2007. "708" was entered by the Van Merksteijn Motorsport team in the 2008 Le Mans Series championship and at Le Mans 24 Hours for the all Dutch drivers trio Peter Van Merksteijn, Jos Verstappen and Jeroen Bleekemolen.
The 2008 Le Mans Series campaign of "708" was highly successful as the car won 4 of the 5 race entered (1000 km of Catalunya, 1000 km of Spa, 1000 km of Nurburgring, 1000 km of Silverstone) and ended on the podium at second place at 1000 km of Monza. The Van Merksteijn Motorsport team secured the 2008 Le Mans Series LMP2 Team championship and Peter Van Merksteijn, Jos Verstappen and Jeroen Bleekemolen became the LMP2 Drivers Champions.
"708" added the most prestigious line to her resume with a LMP2 class win at the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours driven by Peter Van Merksteijn, Jos Verstappen and Jeroen Bleekemolen.
After the 2008 season "708" was sold to Mr Goh in Japan. The car was entered at the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours under the Team Navi Goh banner driven by Seiji Ara (J), Keisuke Kunimoto (J) and Sascha Maassen (D). Unfortunately, the car was forced to retire from the race, having led the race.
After the race the car was sold to a private collector in Europe.
"708" crossed the Atlantic and apeared at some private runnings and events including Rennsport Reunion at laguna laguna Seca two time.
After "708" was aquired by French collector François Perrodo the car was out again on a European race circuit in april 2019 for a shakedown at Paul Ricard driven by its new owner and former Porsche Works driver Emmanuel Collard.
Since then "708" was seen regularly driven during track days and raced at selected events such as Le Mans Classic and the Gulf Hustoric Dubai.
